Publicis Worldwide has launched an awareness campaign for Australian not-for-profit, Act for Kids – an organisation providing therapy and support to children and families who have experienced trauma or are at risk of harm.

The “Right to Imagine” campaign aims to educate Australians about the significant impacts abuse and trauma can have on children’s cognitive development, and highlights the increased demand for Act for Kids’ services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

With strategy and creative led by Publicis Worldwide, and media by Zenith, the campaign conveys the message that when a child suffers from trauma, the naivety of their imagination is taken away.

Activity includes pro bono media across TV, radio, OOH, digital, print, and social media.

Act for Kids chief executive officer, Dr. Katrina Lines, said children who have been abused or exposed to trauma may experience a range of cognitive developmental issues, which means they cannot always create situations in their mind.

“This can sometimes impact their ability to do simple things, like playing with toys, dancing, or singing,” said Lines.

“We focus on creating safe environments for children to imagine and play, while receiving trauma-informed support which allows them to heal and lead happy lives.”

Publicis Worldwide managing director, Simone Waugh, added, “For the last 25 years, Publicis Worldwide has proudly partnered with Act for Kids to raise the voice and defend the rights of thousands of children who experience trauma in Australia every year.

“This campaign will shine a light on the life-changing therapy Act for Kids provide to heal children, and to turn their lives around.”

The “Right to Imagine” campaign launches in February 2022.
