Oporto Proves Good Things Come In Small Packages, Takes Store To Streets In Mini Car

Following the recent launch of the Oporto ‘Pequeno’ (Portuguese for small) stores, Oporto is proving that good things DO come in small packages by taking its flame grilled Portuguese chicken obsession to the streets with its Oporto Sobre Rodas (Oporto on Wheels) this week.

To celebrate their 30-year history, last year Oporto shot their brand campaign on the streets of Portugal, this year Oporto once again have looked to Portugal for inspiration.

Taking their latest idea straight from the streets of Porto and Lisbon, the Oporto Sobre Rodas is modelled on the traditional food carts of Portugal. With a hint of tuk tuk, Oporto Sobre Rodas will be giving traditional big and cumbersome food trucks a run for their money.

Making its official public debut this week at the HSBC Sydney Sevens Rugby, the bespoke-designed vehicle comes complete with a fully functioning grill, refrigeration and built in music system. The outside is wrapped in an iconic Portuguese tile motif that has been specially designed for Oporto.

Craig Tozer, Oporto CEO said, “Oporto Sobre Rodas otherwise known as Oporto on Wheels, is yet another nod to the brand’s proud Portuguese heritage. We are thrilled to be taking our food to the streets and being front and centre at some prominent events and parties on the 2017 social calendar!”

Vanessa Rowed, Oporto head of marketing added, “At Oporto we like to do things differently. Whilst food trucks may have been a trend, we went the other way – bringing a slice of Portugal to Australia. Now is the time for us to reclaim our Portuguese heritage and the Oporto Sobre Rodas is the perfect way.”

The first events include a spicy menu offering for the HSBC Sydney Sevens at Allianz Stadium, product sampling at various universities for O-Week, serving traditional grilled Portuguese chicken at the Bairro Portuguese Petersham Food & Wine Fair and Oporto Sobre Rodas will be adding to the heat on the beach at the Volleyball Australia’s Women’s World Tour event at Manly Beach.
