OMD Melbourne Raises $12,330 For Charity Brainwave Australia

OMD Melbourne has raised $12,330 for charity, Brainwave Australia, by bringing the Melbourne media industry together for an inaugural 24-Hours of Power fundraising event.

Over 100 OMDers and media partners took up the challenge to keep exercise equipment operating non-stop for 24-hours.

The event was created and brought to life by OMD Melbourne’s social responsibility committee, OMDonate, who have coordinated the agency’s support for Brainwave Australia since the partnership was established in 2015. Brainwave Australia is the only national charity that supports children with brain injuries and illnesses and their families to adapt and thrive.

OMDonate is one of the many initiatives that OMD has available to their staff to deliver on purpose within their work. The committee seeks out opportunities for the agency to give back to the community through fundraising, education and participation.

With the help of many of OMD’s media partners, 24-Hours of Power provided a fun, healthy and engaging way to reach the agency’s fundraising target to enable children and their family members to attend the 2022 Brainwave Camp. To keep participants motivated, partners supported the cause by providing entertaining activations throughout the night including drinks and food carts, nail technicians and barbers, a Drag Queen performance, a movie screening and also joined the roster to keep the exercise equipment moving. The event closed with a celebration at OMD Melbourne’s office for the agency team and partners to toast the successful event.

Kenny Stewart, OMD’s group managing director – Victoria and Queensland, said; “With a key focus on creating opportunities for our people to deliver on purpose, it’s been wonderful that our OMDonate committee has pulled together such a fun and inspirational event in support of our chosen charity, Brainwave Australia. With the considerable help of our many willing and valued media partners and the efforts of over 100 participants to exercise around the clock, we are thrilled to have raised these funds to facilitate an enjoyable annual camp experience for the Brainwave families.”

Brainwave Australia CEO, Paul Bird, adds; “Brainwave is delighted to be partnering with the passionate and talented team at OMD. The funds raised by 24-Hours of Power will enable over 60 children with brain disorders and their family members to come on our annual camp. They look forward to this event all year as the only time they can get out as a family and reconnect, recharge and build relationships with other families.”
