It would appear the right and the left of the political spectrum can’t get along anywhere at the moment with news out of Brazil that a rightwing columnist has come to blows with a rival journalist during a radio broadcast.
Rightwinger Augusto Nunes was debating journalist Glenn Greenwald on São Paulo radio station Jovem Pan.
Apparently, there’s a fair bit of history between the two which was the catalyst for the argy-bargy.
Nunes reiterated unsavoury comments that Greenwald’s children – who he adopted with his partner, US congressman David Miranda – were illegitimate. To which Greenwald responded: “What he did was the ugliest, dirtiest thing I have seen in my career as a journalist.”
Greenwald then called Nunes a “coward” and the (admittedly rather awkward) fists soon flew. Mercifully, radio staff were on hand to quickly defuse the melee.
