Former Today show newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys is the latest industry figure to call out The Daily Mail’s dodgy tabloid journalism, and the way she did it was oh so ace.

On Wednesday, an article appeared on The Daily Mail suggesting that Jeffries could be pregnant with her first child, with the headline: “Anything to tell us? Sylvia Jeffreys fuels pregnancy rumours as she gently touches her tummy in a linen shift-dress during casual outing in Sydney”.

However, the TV presenter – who still has a contract with Nine – wasn’t having a bar of it, taking to Twitter and delivering a quality response:

Nope, not pregnant. The only one fuelling that rumour would be you, @DailyMailAU . But thanks for the subtle reminder to wear spanx on all casual outings. ??? pic.twitter.com/e3rLMmXUG8

The tweet quickly drew support across the board, while Jeffries kept up the high standard of her social media game when one respondent chimed in with, “If you gently touch your tummy, what are we to expect?”

That I was feeling very satisfied with my breakfast ??♀️ https://t.co/hjXD3J3wOL

Jeffreys isn’t the only TV presenter to call out The Daily Mail this week for its journalism.

On Wednesday, Sunrise host David Koch – along with executive producer Michael Pell – lambasted the publication over its claim that the show’s staff received a “congratulatory email” referencing how the ratings gap between the show and its rival Today continues to widen.
