Channel Nine’s purple patch continues apace with its new show This Time Next Year debuting to an impressive 1.28 million viewers last night.
The Karl Stefanovic-hosted tear-jerker follows people’s changes over a 12 month period and includes people’s dramatic weight loss, career change and even attempts to have children.
It’s another triumph for Nine following on from its Ninja successes and is reward for free-to-airs game to play out of the tired food/singing/reno genres.
That said, reno show The Block also proved a hit for Nine last night, pulling an impressive 1.25 million viewers according to overnight OzTam figures.
On the back of the two, Nine easily won the night with 33.4 per cent audience share. Seven was second with 25.1 per cent. The ABC and Ten duked it out for third, with Ten (18.8 per cent) just nudging Aunty (17.6 per cent). The SBS managed 5.1 per cent.
Seven did have a win in the news category, its 6pm bulletin pulling 1.11 million viewers versus Nine’s 1.1 million.
Ten’s Australian Survivor is yet to find its feet from Sunday’s debut only managing 656,000 last night. Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention? also has lost some of its shine, managing only 620,000 last night.
