Journalists don’t always get it right (believe us), but one reporter in Argentina has come through with perhaps the most factually incorrect story ever.
An Argentinian newsreader has announced the death of famed playwright William Shakespeare, approximately 505 years after the fact.
The mixup occurred as Canal 26’s Noelia Novillo reported on the death of William ‘Bill’ Shakespeare – who last year became the first man to get the coronavirus vaccine.
Rather than referencing his vaccine-based fame, Novillo described him as “one of the most important writers in the English language”.
William Shakespeare (playwright) died in 1616. William ‘Bill’ Shakespeare (vaccine) died this week from a stroke, which was unrelated to the jab.
On the off chance you speak fluent Spanish, you can witness the calamity here.

Novillo has since come out and defended her gaffe, blaming poor punctuation.
“Over the past few hours, as I’m sure you will have seen, a report has gone viral. I actually knew what I was saying to people, just like I always do,” she said on Friday.
“I expressed myself badly; I missed out a full stop, a comma, some brackets. I wanted to clear up something that was very unclear and of course people misinterpreted it.”
