New Streaming Recommendation App Flikku Launches

flikku today has announced the public launch of their streaming recommendations app, which gives suggestions for multiple users watching together.

From your other half, your housemates to your parents, flikku is aiming to put an end to disagreements over what to watch as Australians stay inside to self-isolate amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

The flikku app gives users the power to find their perfect movie or TV show based on their preferences across all the platforms they use, rather than on one specific service. Users can filter by platform and find where to watch titles on subscription streaming platforms including Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, Foxtel Now and free-to-air catch-up services ABC iView, SBS On Demand, 9Now and 10play.

With more than 14.5 million Australians now having access to a pay tv or subscription video service and an increasing number using more than one service (Roy Morgan , December 2019), flikku’s mission is to make it easier to find content across multiple platforms for different viewing needs.

“We know how hard it is to find content to stream, especially when you’re trying to find something that keeps everyone happy,” said flikku co-founder and managing director Lachlan Ratjens.

“Flikku makes it easier to navigate all the content out there by giving intuitive recommendations, whether you’re watching alone or with others.”

The Group flikk feature allows users to get suggestions for film and tv titles suitable to watch together, simply joining users by a unique 4-digit code in a group session. The app takes into account each user’s preferences to give back a list of viewing recommendations to everyone in the session. Like with the personal recommendations, users can see where to watch and pin titles to come back to watch later.
