Volkswagen, partnered with PHD, has re-joined Nine’s The Block as an official automotive partner the third consecutive year.

This season both arms of Australia’s best-selling European car maker are represented with vehicles from Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in use throughout.

Contestants go about their daily renovation tasks in Volkswagen’s versatile 7-seat Tiguan Allspace SUV. Its range of drive and park assist feature, plus 4MOTION all-wheel drive, have made it a hit with this season’s participants.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles makes its debut with a range of vehicles placed at the disposal of Blockheads, Scotty Cam, and Foreman Keith.

The Amarok ute and the Crafter and Caddy vans feature prominently throughout this season giving contestants and hosts the means to move bigger and heavier items.

In two special episodes, we see Volkswagen feature its new technologically-advanced Touareg.

Volkswagen’s premium flagship vehicle features advanced safety tech and infotainment systems plus a massive 3.0 litre turbocharged TDI engine.

Two lucky Blockhead contestants get to drive this already highly acclaimed SUV.

Volkswagen will this year award contestants with more than $90,000 in cash prizes as part of the weekly Room Reveal segments to help fund their renovations, as well as assisting them on a unique challenge which sees the contestants putting the Volkswagen Amarok through its paces during an off-road challenge with a special twist.

Volkswagen vehicle presence extends to the support crew in the form of a Crafter and Amarok as well as two very special customised Amarok’s for Scotty Cam and Foreman Keith.

Volkswagen Australian director of marketing and customer experience Jason Bradshaw said that brand was delighted to be back on board.

Bradshaw said: “The Block has captured Australia’s imagination. Australians aspire not only to own their own homes but to shape them.

“Although the circumstances of The Block’s contestants are heightened, we viewers empathise with them.

“There could not be a better placement for Volkswagen – the people’s premium car brand – than The Block.”

Commenting on the campaign PHD content and partnerships manager, Ned Curtis said: “We’re so excited to partner our client Volkswagen and The Block for the third year running in this year’s season which promises to be the biggest Block ever!

“Everyone at PHD is very proud of the level of integration seen in this season and the inclusion of the Commercial Vehicle team into the show. T

“he Block remains one of the most loved programs in Australia, and it’s the ideal sponsorship platform for a tech-focused brand like Volkswagen to showcase their latest cars.”

Powered director, Liana Dubois said: “We welcome VW back to The Block in what is a testament to the ongoing triumvirate and deep collaboration between PHD, VW and Nine.

“Together we bring viewing audiences more challenge, innovation, and inspiration whilst for VW we deepen their long association with Australia’s beloved Blockheads.

“VW supports our Blockheads with the mobility, flexibility, and ingenuity needed to journey through the demanding task of renovating The Block.”

The Block, hosted by Scott Cam, offers an around-the-clock view of what happens when determined couples tackle rundown townhouses with equal-sized budgets and just weeks to out-design and out-renovate each other.
