Tablet race quickens as Christmas approaches

Apple is expected to unveil its latest tablet developments tomorrow with technology press predicting tomorrows launch event will introduce a new iPad mini and iPad.

The tech giant is expected to reveal the fifth generation of its iPad tomorrow, with many expecting it to be thinner and lighter.

Pundits are also predicting the refreshed tablet will sport an improved camera and a more powerful processor.

The mini is thought to feature an upgraded retina display.

Apple isn’t the only technology company set to reveal new tablets tomorrow, with Nokia hosting a special launch event in Abu Dhabi on the same day Microsoft releases its Surface 2 tablet.

Nokia’s yet-to-be-unveiled products have reportedly leaked online, with one being a ‘phablet’ with a 6-inch and the other a MP3 player called Guru.

The releases come as Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s smartphone sector is finalised.

The race to release updates and new tablet products spell a competitive lead into Christmas for the tech companies.

More to come tomorrow.
