Reports: Seven Eyes Preston and Mehigan (But Not Calombaris) For New Cooking Show

Reports: Seven Eyes Preston and Mehigan (But Not Calombaris) For New Cooking Show

Channel Seven boss James Warburton is reportedly eyeing former Masterchef judges Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston for a new cooking show to launch in 2020, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Sources close to Seven said Warburton is not interested in signing George Calombaris, however, who is part of the judging trio that was revealed in July would not be returning to Masterchef next year.

The news the trio would not be resigning came after it was revealed Calombaris underpaid workers at his restaurant chain to the tune of almost $8 million, with a petition created to sack the judge.

Seven’s programming strategy is still being discussed and will be revealed at the network’s upfronts event to be held on 23 October.

It is believed Mehigan and Preston are being considered for a new show altogether and not for My Kitchen Rules, which is Masterchef‘s direct competitor.

Ten is also due to reveal the names of the new judges replacing Mehigan, Preston and Colambaris at its upfronts on 10 October.
