Lee McClymont Appointed POPAI’s New GM

Shopper marketing and insights specialist Lee McClymont  has been appointed as POPAI’s new general manager.

Formerly of specialist agency ShopAbility and with senior brand and specialty retailer experience, Lee brings more than a decade of blue chip shopper marketing and insights leadership to the role.

McClymont told B&T: “It’s only my second day so I’m the new girl but not really as I’ve been working in and around POPAI for several years.

“What really attracted me to the role is the global thought leadership and the people – some of the people in POPAI are senior within the industry and I’m so inspired to work with them; they’re fantastic industry advocates and thought leaders.

“There’s a lot coming up in 2015 and we’ll be making some big announcements in the next few week. There’s a lot of change on the horizon.

“We’re really looking at building and supporting the POPAI community both through face to face events and online and there’s going to be more communication, events, research education, guidelines etc and we’re also launching a webinar series and networking and PR events. It’s an exciting time.”

POPAI Chairman Sarah Nichols, of Brown Forman, says McClymont’s contribution will be key to supporting the continuing evolution of POPAI as the Australian home of Shopper Marketing, and the only industry body advocating for the Marketing at Retail sector.

“Retail in 2015 is about reaching the shopper wherever they are, and delivering value as they define it,” she said. “Lee brings in-depth understanding of what makes shoppers tick, and what brands, agencies, suppliers and retailers need to do about it.

“Our membership will benefit greatly from her passion for sharing global best practice through education, awards, industry intelligence and networking.”
