Fairfax Radio Network to Broadcast Phillip Hughes Funeral

Fairfax Radio Network’s News Talk stations will broadcast cricketer Phillip Hughes’ funeral from his home town of Macksville on December 3 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm Eastern standard time.

The broadcast will be anchored nationally by 2UE Drive host Justin Smith and cricket commentator Tim Lane.

Smith and Lane will broadcast from the SCG, providing information throughout the service, which will be broadcast for the general public. The national radio broadcast will feature on Sydney’s 2UE, Melbourne’s 3AW, Brisbane’s 4BC and Perth’s 6PR, as well as Adelaide’s 5AA.

Fairfax Radio Network cricket commentators Bruce Eva and Dean Jones will attend the funeral on the network’s behalf. 4BC Breakfast co-host Ian Skippen will also attend the funeral, along with Fairfax Radio Network reporters.

A number of regional radio stations will also syndicate the Fairfax Radio Network national broadcast in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The whole nation is mourning the loss of this talented young cricketer and our listeners want to pay their respects by being part of his funeral in some way,” said 2UE Drive presenter Justin Smith.
