Domain Hires Its First National Business Editor

Fairfax Media’s Domain has marked its expansion into business journalism by appointing Chris Kohler as its national business editor, a newly-created role within the company’s editorial team.

Kohler brings to Domain a strong background of managing content across social, digital, print and broadcast mediums. Most recently, he served as editor of The Australian’s business blog BusinessNow, where he oversaw all editorial and multimedia content.

Kohler’s role will cover the national banking sector, financial markets, consumer affairs, personal finance, all via a property viewpoint. He will specifically be focused on tapping into Domain’s social media channels via long-form stories and video.

Domain’s chief editorial and marketing officer, Melina Cruickshank, said: “I’m really pleased Chris is joining our team of trusted and respected journalists. He will add a fresh new voice to Australia’s property conversation.

“With the Australian economy relying heavily on the health of its property markets, property is a subject that creates significant debate at a local, state and federal level.

“With so much information and change, Domain remains focused on helping Australians make sense of complicated market forces that impact their decisions.”

Commenting on his new role, Kohler said: “Domain has become a trusted powerhouse in the flow of property information.

“I look forward to joining Domain’s editorial team, recruiting new writers and contributing my knowledge to help the brand forge new ground in business journalism.”
