Deliveroo Appoints Joanne Woo To Lead Corporate Affairs In Oz

Popular online food platform Deliveroo has appointed Joanne Woo as head of corporate affairs in Australia.

The new appointment comes as Deliveroo has become the first on-demand economy platform in Australia to call for the creation of a Future Work Act and Future Work Commission to end the trade-off between flexibility and security for on-demand economy workers.

Woo joins Deliveroo after more than eight years at GE where she was VP of brand & communications for Australia and New Zealand, and the youngest member of the company’s executive team.

Woo said: “This is an exciting time to be joining a start-up that is always breaking new ground – whether in how people work, how people eat or how restaurants operate.

“Today, Deliveroo partners with close to 10,000 of Australia’s best-loved restaurants across 13 cities to bring great food straight to people’s homes, offices, parks, beaches and even hotel rooms.

“The on-demand economy has transformed the world as we know it and Australia has a huge opportunity to lead the way in shaping the future of work”.

Deliveroo country manager Levi Aron said: “We’re thrilled to have Joanne join our team in Australia.

“Throughout her career she has been at the forefront of leading digital trends and spearheading thought leadership strategies that advocate for the role of business in bringing about positive change for Australia.

“This experience will be essential as Deliveroo continues to push for an end in the trade-off between flexibility and security in Australia as we campaign to change legislation to give riders more benefits, continue to innovate in the food industry and continue to find new ways to give customers greater choice of food”.
