Triple M head to Hollywood for WWRS Awards

Southern Cross Austereo’s Triple M Melbourne has been nominated in the Worldwide Radio Summit Awards for innovative excellence.

Nominated under the ‘Most Innovative International Radio Station’ category in the Worldwide Radio Summit Industry Awards 2014, the awards recognise international radio excellence and brings global radio influencers to the US market to meet with the music and radio communities.

“It’s an honour to be nominated as an innovative radio station by the WWRS,” Mike Fitzpatrick, head of the Triple M Network, said.

“We’re proud of the content we create which combined with sports broadcasting and a passion for real music makes Triple M Melbourne unique.

“On top of that, we have one of the most engaged brand communities in media. Everyone here works hard to be the best.”

Triple M Melbourne (105.1 FM), which is home to The Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire, Luke Darcy and Mick Molloy, is up against four other finalists of 93.5 Red FM in India, and CIHT-FM, CKFM, and CKMP in Canada.

This is the first time SCA station has been nominated, with voting running until February 23 and the awards held in Hollywood on April 4, 2014.

It’s been a big week for radio with Monday being the first day of the new survey and “seismic” changes ahead for the industry, and the launch of Australian Radio Network’s new brand KIIS and the first day of the new Kyle and Jackie O show.
