Nine News wins the night but no-one cracks a million

News and current affairs dominated the viewing agenda last night but no program managed to reach one million viewers.

Nine News won for total people but scored an audience of less than 990,000, followed by Seven News on 920,000 and ABC News on 862,000.

Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens was the highest rating non-news program of the evening, pulling 637,000 in seventh place.

It was followed closely by fantasy drama, Once Upon a Time, also a Seven show, which won 610,000. While the show ranked eighth overall, it was the highest rating show in both the 18-49 demographic  and the 16–35 demographic.

Seven’s Today Tonight came in fourth on 817,000, followed by ABC1’s 7:30 Summer Edition and Nine’s A Current Affair, which pulled 770,000.

Ten News at Five ranked 10th just under ABC1’s Redfern Now with 575,000 and was the network’s only program in the top ten shows of the night.

The Project, also a Ten show, ranked 19th in total people but came in second for 16-35 year-olds and fifth for the 18-49 year olds.
