Branson voices support for gender diversity in business

Virgin founder Richard Branson has thrown his weight behind a new book on women in leadership written by Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg.

The book, titled Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead examines why having more women in leadership roles is good for business as well as society.

It follows a TED Talk given by Sandberg in December 2010 which exposed why the world has too few women leaders.

Branson yesterday described Sandberg’s new book, as “essential reading for anyone interested in righting the injustice of this inequality”.

“If you simply believe as I do that we need equality in the boardroom, then I recommend her new book on women in leadership,” Branson wrote on his blog.
