MCN Signs On As Principal Sponsor for B&T Awards 2015

Multi channel network (MCN) has been confirmed as the Principal Sponsor for the 2015 B&T Awards to be held at Melbourne Town Hall on the 4th of December.

MCN is a joint venture between Foxtel and FOX SPORTS. It’s responsible for the advertising interests of 70 television channel brands, 118 websites, 31 m-sites /optimised mobile sites, 70 apps, 3 IPTV services, 19 digital-out-of-home-TV screens and Qantas in-flight entertainment.

The B&T awards are celebrating its tenth birthday this year, and to celebrate we’re moving the awards to Melbourne.

Melina Augoustakis, MCN strategy and planning director spoke with B&T about MCN’s sponsorship.

What do the B&T Awards mean to you?

The B&T Awards night is a celebration of our industry’s best and brightest. It recognises the plethora of first class work from individuals, organisations, and the broader media market, and that’s pivotal to this industry. I’m hugely exciting to be involved in such a highly anticipated industry awards event.

Why has MCN sponsored the B&T Awards?

Sydney has traditionally been the awards mecca, and so when we heard about B&T moving their awards night to Melbourne this year we jumped at the opportunity.

Melbourne can sometimes be overlooked so it is an exciting prospect to support the first such event in Melbourne and help recognise talent and showcase the city. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for our Melbourne team to catch-up with local peers and let them know what MCN is up to in the Melbourne market. The fact that we’ll be celebrating a decade of the B&T Awards is cherry on the cake.

Why are the B&T Awards such an appealing sponsorship opportunity?

At MCN, we take pride in our work, our people and our organisation. Our recent listing in BRW’s top 50 innovative Australian companies attests to this and so supporting a top tier industry event like the B&T Awards is further testament to our belief in outstanding work and continuing to excel, consistently.

Additionally, the shift to Melbourne meant a new opportunity for us to focus our marketing efforts in that market. We are always looking to partner with brands which aim to raise our industry’s profile and this partnership means we can help promote and advance the Australian media industry in Melbourne.

Why are awards like this important for the industry?

It’s an opportunity for our peers to come together, united, in one cause. It’s a chance for us to share success and acknowledge the hard work of the industry’s greatest talent.

What do you enjoy about the awards night?

The excitement and energy at the B&T events is unparalleled.  It’s a rarity to have the entire industry under one roof to celebrate what we do every day. And it certainly beats the usual ‘foyer repartee’ that’s customary in our game. I’m particularly looking forward to this year’s event as Melbourne looks to host our Sydney colleagues and counterparts.

What makes Melbourne such a unique market?

The Melbourne Market is unique from both a media and agency perspective as Melbourne is often referred to as a ‘relationships market’. This is another reason why having such a pivotal industry event now hosted in the city is such a great idea.
