Horror Movie Poster Banned In Ireland For Being Too Scary

An outdoor poster for horror movie Sinister 2 has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI) because the image was likely to frighten children.

There were eight complaints lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI) over the poster. The poster featured an image of two boys looking at a wall with an image of the monster’s face is painted in dripping blood. Child hand prints, also in blood, are also shown.

Despite the movie being rated 16+ the movie poster was on view for all ages including children. Several complainants said the poster had left their children upset and frightened.

The advertisers Entertainment One UK said it did not consider the advertisement showed any “graphic horror or gore” and the ad was clearly promoting a fictional film.

However, the ASAI judged it was likely to frighten children and should not appear again.
