Even with the rise and rise of social media, email has been a staple for digital marketers over the past decade.

It provides brands with a unique opportunity to speak directly with their customers and offer a personalised experience to match.

And now email marketing service and Australian tech success story Campaign Monitor has shared its insights into what makes the best email campaign.

As many marketers know, the time you send out your email campaign has a huge impact on how it performs.

But when is the best time to send?

In Australia, Tuesday is the day emails see the highest open rate, while Sunday and Tuesday deliver the best click-through rates.

Saturday is to be avoided at all costs according to Campaign Monitor, with campaigns sent on this day attracting the lowest open rates, click-through rates and click-to-open rates.

With marketers also now able to better understand their audience through segmentation, it’s also useful to look at which industries respond the best to email campaigns.

The automotive and aerospace industry has the highest open rates (37.4 per cent), followed by government (30.8 per cent) and education (30.5 per cent).

As for click-through rates, the media, entertainment and publishing industry is the most likely at 20.3 per cent.

And while these insights can help maximise the performance of a campaign, as ever, content is vital.

When creating content, it is important to remember that only you know your audience, explains Campaign Monitor.
