Australian musicians will share their stories in Nova’s new podcast, Introducing with Tim Blackwell.

Music journalist Tim Blackwell has been chatting to musicians for more 18 years, since joining Nova in 2001. His experience and a passion for connecting audiences with artists takes shape in a new podcast series, Introducing with Tim Blackwell, presented by Nova Podcasts and produced in partnership with Pro Podcast Production.

Beginning on Monday 30 November, each week Blackwell will chat to some of Australia’s most talented artists and bands, including Yungblud, Tyne-James Organ, Haiku Hands, Peking Duk, The Delta Riggs, and DMA’s in the new six-part podcast series.

“Before COVID I was seeing around two gigs a week and basically being a groupie in the band room,” Blackwell said in a statement.

“I thought it was about time I got serious and stuck a microphone in their faces.”

Blackwell added: “There are so many amazing artists out there and I want this to be a space for them to own, to chat, play some tunes and have a beer and talk about themselves… If the drinks are cold the artists will follow… that’s my plan anyway.

The series features interviews with artists that Nova says “have become Tim’s mates” over the last 18 years, with his first guest—Yungblud.

“I’m just so excited to be able to talk music with people who are in the game,” Blackwell said. “I was never cool enough to be in a band so this is my sure-fire way to get an access all areas pass and have a reason to be lurking backstage.”

Introducing with Tim Blackwell launches on Monday, 30 November, with a new episode released every Monday, available wherever listeners access their podcasts.

Check out the trailer for Introducing with Tim Blackwell for a taste of what to expect. Tim Blackwell can be heard on the Kate, Tim & Joel drive show, weekdays from 3pm to 6pm on the Nova Network.
