Integrated communications firm Icon Agency has been appointed to provide PR services to TEDxMelbourne.
The Melbourne-based agency will launch the 2018 event, which is set to take place on Monday 13 August at The Meat Market in North Melbourne.
The TEDx program is designed to help communities, organisations and individuals spark
conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences. This year’s theme is ‘The Great Unknown – Who we’ve been. What we’ll become.’
Icon was appointed by the TEDx team on a part, pro-bono basis to create a statewide campaign to raise public awareness of the event, its fringe activities and the line-up of speakers.
Using the speakers’ topics as a point of differentiation, Icon is embarking on a two-month campaign of media relations activity to support the event.
Icon managing director Joanne Painter said she was excited to be working with the world-renowned organisation.
“TEDx is an innovative organisation that encourages us all to push the boundaries of what we think we know and believe, which aligns closely with Icon’s ethos of pursuing possibility,” she said.
“This is a great fit for our team and we embrace the challenge of increasing TEDxMelbourne’s profile across the region.”
TEDxMelbourne licensee and curator Jon Yeo said: “It’s important to me that we encourage the disruption of thought and process in our professional and personal lives, and the theme of this year’s event is a great conduit for that.
“TEDxMelbourne believes in pushing boundaries and changing perspectives. That made working with Icon an easy decision and natural fit for our mutual brands future direction together.”
