One of the nation’s most well-known talk radio duos will appear for the first time at Commercial Radio Australia’s National Radio Conference 2016 in Melbourne.
Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, hosts of the HIT Network’s drive-time slot, will feature in a conference session moderated by executive producer Sam Kavanagh, where they will talk about their radio careers, their unique approach to content creation, discuss working in a creative team and reveal what it takes to stay at the top of their game.
Having met while studying at university, Blake and Lee launched their radio careers in 2003, attracting an audience of around 2.5 million listeners each week for four years before retiring from the weekday drive-time slot in 2011 to pursue other media ambitions.
Between 2011 and 2014, the duo continued their occasional TV specials on the Nine Network, which included Hamish & Andy’s Caravan of Courage: Australia vs New Zealand and Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year.
In June 2015, Hamish and Andy made their highly anticipated return to radio on the HIT Network, once again hosting the weekday national drive-time show.
The two entertainers have also topped iTunes’ Australian radio podcast charts, and have appeared as guests on a number of TV shows, including The Project, Spicks and Specks, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Rove, Thank God You’re Here, and Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation.
Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner said the pair are wonderful ambassadors for the radio industry.
“We’re excited that they have agreed to share their expertise at this year’s conference,” she said.
The National Radio Conference will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 7 October, with more than 600 attendees expected from across Australia.
The 28th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards will follow the conference on Saturday 8 October, also to be held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Commercial Radio Australia said it will reveal more conference speakers in the coming weeks.
