In yet another case of “don’t upset the comic book nerds” comes news one such fan is set to sue the makers of the current DC Comics film Suicide Squad after he claimed its marketing didn’t actually match the film.

The British fan – who goes by the Reddit profile “BlackPanther2016” – is arguing the trailers showed numerous scenes of Jared Leto’s character The Joker that never appeared in the actual film and it amounted to “unjust false advertising”. Media is reporting that the fan is set to sue the film’s maker, Warner Bros, for an undisclosed amount. It is understood his lawyer brother is set to represent him.

His argument, available on Reddit, says that he was prompted to see the film by its advertising. He subsequently drove “300 miles to a  London cinema to watch specific scenes explicitly advertised in TV ads…and they didn’t show them to me. Adding to this, they were also two specific Katana scenes they advertised that were also the reason I wanted to go watch the movie.”

Although The Joker character was heavily used in the film’s promotion, he actually only appears in the final edit for 15 minutes. The film also stars Australian actress Margot Robbie and despite being heavily promoted has proven somewhat of a box-office flop.

Even the actor who played the role, Jared Leto, has admitted that there was a stack more footage shot that never appeared in the film.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Leto revealed that there was so much extra footage that it could possibly be turned into a whole other separate film.

“I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene, it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie,” said Leto.
