The Australian radio industry has given kudos to the country’s most creative audiophiles by announcing the finalists for the 2022 Siren Awards, which recognises the best in radio ads and/or campaigns. You can listen to the finalists HERE.

Making the list this year are Deloitte Digital Australia, Howatson & Company, The Monkeys, Wunderman Thompson, Enigma, Innocean Australia, Nova Entertainment’s CREATE, SDWM, Special Group Australia and The Hallway.

The nominations cover work for a range of industry sectors and clients including Anglicare WA, Suzuki Australia, NRMA Insurance, Belong, WA Ballet, Uber Eats, Crimsafe, Transport Accident Commission, Gotcha4life Foundation, No Ugly Sleep and Mountain Goat Beer.

“The Australian radio market is one of the most advanced and dynamic in the world and the creativity on display with this year’s Siren Award finalists is absolutely world class,” said CRA chief commercial officer, Ford Ennals.

“This is my first experience of the Sirens Awards, and I am incredibly impressed with the outstanding quality of the finalists who have crafted compelling and engaging radio ads to strongly connect with listeners.”

For those of you whose eyes have gone square from staring at a screen, the annual Siren Awards foster excellence in radio advertising and are judged by the Siren Creative Council, a panel of advertising agency and radio industry experts.

The Gold Siren Award winners will receive a Gold Siren trophy, and two premium tickets for themselves and a pass for their client to the Semi Permanent Festival of Creativity and Design to be held in Sydney in May 2022.

Three Silver Sirens will be awarded for the best radio ads across three categories: single, campaign and craft. A Siren Client Award of $1,000 cash will also be presented to the writers of the ad voted the best by a panel of clients.

The finalists in the craft category are Cue Sound, Eardrum, Gusto Studios, Play Dirty Productions,Sonar, Soundbyte Studios and Squeak E. Clean Studios

M&C Saatchi’s “Ugly, but good for you” campaign for Lilydale/Steggles won last year’s Gold and Silver Siren Awards for best radio campaign.

The series of four 60-second workout tracks in the genres of techno, pop, hip hop and rock used catchy beats and humour to convince listeners that turkey is the ultimate lean protein meal.
