CV-19’s not only been tough on humans but animals too. With humans in lockdown, zoos have been forced to go with out badly-needed gate revenues to keep them operating.
Now London Zoo has enlisted some of the UK’s top comics for a new fundraising spot.
The initiative, by none other than Sir David Attenborough, stars a host of British comics led by Jonathan Ross, Bill Bailey, Catherine Tate, Alan Carr, Tom Allen and Meera Syal.
Bailey, who voices “Bob” an emperor tamarin monkey in the two-moinute spot, said of the work: “I think Bob and I are quite similar, we both share a certain joie de vivre, and have eccentric facial hair.”
Dominic Jermey, director-general of the Zoological Society of London added: “The closure of London and Whipsnade Zoos put us under immense financial pressure; we’re fighting our biggest challenge in our 200-year history. The situation ZSL is facing is anything but funny.’
“We’re hoping this light-hearted approach, supported by an incredible array of comedians who have generously donated their voices to our campaign, will get people smiling and donating.”
