Casefile Once Again Claims Top Spot In Triton Podcast Ranker

Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime has continued its winning streak, claiming top spot for the third month running on Triton Digital’s Australian Podcast Ranker for December 2021.

The stalwart program notched 772,844 monthly listeners and 1,948,764 monthly downloads.

While this showed a slight dip from the previous month’s numbers, it was enough to beat out persistent rival Hamish & Andy, which came in second with 600,842 monthly listeners and 1,351,367 monthly downloads.

NOVA Entertainment’s The Update took out bronze. However, its 399,793 monthly listeners and 841,116 monthly downloads further underscored this month’s ratings as a two-horse race between the true crime favourite and the beloved comedy duo.

That said, The Update still managed to nab third spot from iHeartPodcast’s Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne which dropped to fourth place.

As a further testament to Aussie’s macabre obsession with true crime, News Corp’s Shandee’s Story – which chronicles the unsolved murder of Shandee Blackburn in 2013 – snuck into the top five, notching 302,811 monthly listeners and 597,194 monthly downloads, a noticeable leap from its eleventh spot the previous month.

The Kyle & Jackie O Show continued its surprising ratings sink, dropping a further two places to seventh, just ahead of LiSTNR’s The Howie Games which still scored more monthly downloads than the veteran radio duo.

Meanwhile, the top ten publishers ranking saw scarce change from the previous month.

ARN/iHeartMedia retained its top spot with 2,839,163 monthly listeners and 12,589,603 monthly downloads, owing to the continued success of programs such as Hamish & Andy, Life Uncut, Stuff You Should Know, Kyle & Jackie O, No Such Thing As A Big Fish and Morbid.

The publisher maintained top of the podium ahead of SCA’s LiSTNR and Audioboom, which took out second and third place, respectively.
