Carbar Appoints Kieron Wogan As First CMO

Australia’s first car subscription service Carbar has appointed former head of marketing at HMD Global ANZ, Kieron Wogan as its chief marketing officer.

In his new role, Wogan (featured image) will continue to sharpen Carbar’s focus on its customers, grow the brand and expand its national reach as its subscription offering expands across Australia. He will report directly to Carbar CEO and co-founder Des Hang.

The position also serves as an interesting role reversal for Wogan, who served as CEO Des Hang’s direct manager during his time at Suncorp.

Wogan said: “Carbar is an extremely successful first mover in this emerging sector.

“More consumers and businesses are opting for car subscriptions because of the value and convenience they offer, and it’s exciting to work for a local business at the helm of this global trend.”

“My role is to help make Carbar a household name and grow the brands’ reach and influence across Australia.”

Wogan added: “It’s also a privilege to work with Des again.

“This role for me is really what a modern career is all about; caring less about hierarchy and taking amazing opportunities as they arise.”

Carbar CEO and co-founder Des Hang added: “We conducted a national search for a marketer who could help bring our brand to the next level.

“It’s serendipity that Kieron — my former boss — is perfectly suited for this role.

“Kieron is an incredible marketer with a unique blend of skills across brand, PR, digital marketing and ecommerce.

“We’re excited to have him on the team.”

The news follows Carbar’s Series B fundraising round, where it rose $16.8 million, led by Australia’s largest insurer, IAG.

It also comes a month after Carbar launched its service in Sydney, after first launching its subscription service in Melbourne in August 2018.

Carbar plans to expand to other states in 2020.
