Gumtree Australia’s latest search report reveals a shift in trends from consumers, with caravans and boats the biggest movers for September.

Compared with the same period in 2019, searches for ‘caravan’ on the digital marketplace have increased 68 per cent, bringing the item to fourth on the top 10 most searched items for October 2020.

The list for the top searched items for the period is a broad mix of those across home, sport, vehicles, and appliances, representing the more than 2.8 million items currently listed on Gumtree.

At the top of the list for searches in October is the term ‘boat’, with a 17 per cent increase from the same period in 2019.

Gumtree speculates this could be an indication “of the shift to the warmer weather activities”. Also featuring in the top 10 were ‘surfboard’ (fifth), and ‘kayak’ (sixth).

The list of trending items in demand across Gumtree also reveals home necessities, like fridges and dining tables, are continuing to make regular appearances in the top 10 list.
