Irish Comics Unite For Witty Campaign In Support Of Abortion Referendum

The topic of legalising abortion doesn’t typically offer too many opportunities for gags, yet that’s exactly what a bunch of Irish comedians have done ahead of the country’s referendum on the subject this coming Friday.

Obviously, the vote is a contentious one in deeply Catholic Ireland and the comics are all lending their voice to the “Be Our Yes” campaign.

All the comics featured in the online campaign have lived outside of Ireland for the past 18 months which makes them ineligible to be part of Friday’s vote, so, instead, they’re urging their country men and women to do the voting for them.

Comics include Chris O’Dowd, Ed Byrne and Father Ted creator Graham Linehan, as well as the half-Irish Jimmy Carr, Roisin Conaty and Katherine Ryan. Check out the witty spot below:
