Entering the fabulous fours as we would say, the B&T Women in Media Awards have returned, and this year, we’re shaking things up and adding some new ingredients to the mix.
The esteemed awards, sponsored by Bauer Media Group, are back shinier than ever, giving you a chance to enter, nominate, and vote for the most powerful, intelligent, fearless and fantastic women in our industry, changing the landscape and shaping our future.
Whether you’re a quick-witted journalist, the CEO of a company, a PR maestro or an agency whizz, these are the awards to recognise your achievements and toot your own horn just a little bit, just like these ladies did last year.
But wait, there’s more!
This year, B&T, not satisfied with just celebrating women’s achievements in our industry with an awards ceremony, is introducing a new component: the forum. The inaugural Women in Media Forum, presented by OMD, is a natural extension to B&T’s Women in Media Awards.
Attendees have the chance to take part in speed mentoring with female powerhouses from across the marketing, media and advertising industry and up-close exposure to highly successful, inspiring women.
In the spirit of collaboration, there will also be a hackathon element to the day with attendees split into groups to come up with three actionable ideas to meet challenges facing women in the industry.
Every woman (and perhaps the odd man) should walk away with at least one step they can take immediately to contribute to the promotion of women in media.
And let us tell you, the list of mentors is one to be rivaled, with every power woman from Twitter MD Karen Stocks and Bauer Media GM and Hearst publisher Marina Go, to OMD MD Margie Reid and Leo Burnett Melbourne CEO Melinda Geertz.
Running for the fourth consecutive year, the Women in Media Awards boast 15 categories spanning the advertising and media industry, which are open to women at any level of their business to be judged by a panel of top female executives. One new category will be introduced this year – Entrepreneur.

We will also be awarding Woman of the Year – this will be chosen by B&T as being the most influential out of the field of entrants.
The awards night will be a cocktail party with a keynote address from a leading woman in the industry. We will also be announcing B&T’s Power List – recognising the 30 most influential women in the Australia mediascape.
This year, the Awards will be held on Friday 19 August 2016 at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, featuring Gretel Killeen as MC.
