Brag Media Snares Atomic 212’s Emma Greenhalgh & Musicfeeds’ Joel King For Commercial Roles

Australian music publisher, The Brag Media, has announced two new senior hires to its commercial team.

Joel King (pictured below), who founded music publication Musicfeeds and is the former managing director of Evolve Media in Australia, joins The Brag Media alongside Emma Greenhalgh (main photo), who comes from media agency Atomic212, where she led the NSW Government team working with departments such as Sydney Opera House, Rural Fire Service and NSW Police Force.

Both King and Greenhalgh join The Brag Media as commercial lead and senior brand partnerships manager, respectively.

Greenhalgh, who has seven years of experience in media agencies, has delivered on business objectives at both Atomic212 and Mediacom prior to that. In 2017 she was a finalist for both B&T’s 30 under 30 and B&T Women in Media for her work with clients such as P&G, Universal Pictures, and Sony PlayStation.

Joel King, as managing director of Evolve Media in Australia, executed a program of business transformation, including workforce restructuring, capital investment in technology, consolidation of services and diversification into new markets and customer segments. He has launched a number of new publisher content and influencer products into the Australian market and conceived and executed sponsored content and marketing initiatives for a number of brands including Disney, Nike, Universal Sony, Heinz and LEGO.

At The Brag Media, Greenhalgh and King will be working directly with agencies and brands, while King will also be managing his own commercial team.

The Brag Media’s CEO and co-founder Luke Girgis said he had been looking for experienced operators to take its brands and offering to market and to further strengthen its relationship with brands and agencies.

Girgis said: “COVID-19 has left most industries in dark unprecedented times, so now more than ever, brands need to actually add value to the lives of Australians and provide meaningful connection. If brands stick to the old ways of doing things through and beyond this crisis, they will be left behind.

“It’s why we needed to double down with our servicing and support to brands in this time, and why we are thrilled to have two super experienced and skilled professionals in Emma and Joel join our team at this moment in Australian history,” Girgis said.

“Music is #1 interest for Australians for the first time in human history and in times of crisis like this, Australians are relying on music more than ever. We are already seeing this data across all our assets. I am very excited to have Emma and Joel join our team to support brands through this time.”

Greenhalgh added: “Music has always been a huge part of my life. I’m incredibly excited to join The Brag Media’s team at such a pivotal moment with the relaunch of Rolling Stone Australia.

“The media industry has changed dramatically over the past few years with the focus on content and engagement stronger than ever. As Australia’s largest music publisher, The Brag Media have an incredibly engaged audience and I’m super excited to be involved in growing this in 2020.”

King noted: “The Brag Media is currently leading the Australian market in Gen Z and Millennial engagement. I look forward to presenting our brand partners with a number of new and innovative opportunities to connect with our audience in 2020 and I am super excited to be involved in the relaunch of Rolling Stone in Australia.”

In the past 12 months, The Brag Media has doubled its Australian audience to 1 million MAUs per month and has entered into a JV with the biggest music media brand in the world, Rolling Stone.
