KFC Unveils Slightly Unnerving Mother’s Day Romance Novel Ad

KFC in the US has released its new Mother’s Day campaign that spoofs old fashioned romance novels to try and get the kids to buy mum a bucket of chicken for her special day.

The ad features an oiled, shirtless man with whispy long-hair reading from his Colonel Sanders’ inspired novella titled Tender Wings Of Desire. Check the ad out below:

The ad is the work of Wieden + Kennedy Portland and was released ahead of Mother’s Day, which KFC report as its busiest day of the year.

And the 96-page novel is indeed real. You get it with your bucket of chicken or its free to download on Amazon ebooks.

In a (spoof) statement to media, KFC said: “Mother’s Day is KFC’s best-selling day of the year. So this year, KFC is giving moms the ultimate gift with its first romance novella, Tender Wings of Desire, featuring Harland Sanders as the love interest.

“Paired with a $20 Fill Up featuring KFC’s Extra Crispy Chicken, mothers can finally get what they want this year—a family meal they don’t have to cook, and some alone time with a captivating novella.”
