Homeware Store Uses Chrissie Ad To Promote Sexual Equality

British homeware and gardening chain Robert Dyas has parodied the gay-straight debate in its latest Christmas commercial.

The ad, released on 10 December, is titled ‘We’re Robert Dyas and we’re gay. And straight. And bi…’and appears a lighthearted parody of the same-sex marriage debate.

Throughout the ad, Robert Dyas staff and customers introduce themselves and reveal their sexuality before going onto flog a Christmas-skewed gift in-store. The highlight being Christmas trees that are “perfect for a gay person. Or a straight person.”

Although, how the ad has actually been received by the Brits remains unclear. That said, the reaction on social media appeared positive with Robert Dyas customers using Twitter to show their approval. Although some felt the ad hadn’t gone far enough and had excluded other groups such as transexuals while some were just left utterly confused and questioned with the marketing department may have had one too many Christmas sherries.
