OMA dishes out accolades to industry award winners

With the 2013 Effies in full swing in one part of Sydney, the Outdoor Media Association was honouring the finest talent in its own industry in another at its annual awards bash last night.

The Rising Star award went to Jane King, marketing manager at Adshel, with Chris Perera, group sales manager at APN Outdoor, highly commended.

There were joint-winners of the Excellence in Production gong, with Rose Farhart, head of innovation & technology at JCDecaux, and John Purcell, commercial director of operations & business systems at oOh! Media, winning out.

Meanwhile, Gwen Beale (pictured right), commercial executive at APN Outdoor, took out the Outstanding Service award, with Ian Woods, commercial manager at oOh! Media highly commended.

Beale has given over 26 years of dedicated service to grow the Queensland market with a significant and positive contribution to both APN Outdoor and the overall outdoor industry.

As an active participant in the OMA Queensland members’ meetings and workshops, she has worked on local, state and federal Government policies such as the amendments to roadside advertising guide (Queensland Government), council town planning policies and enforcing advertising restrictions – most significantly the banning of tobacco advertising.

Richard Herring, APN Outdoor’s CEO and Chairman of the OMA, commented; “We are extremely proud of Gwen for winning the OMA’s Outstanding Service Award. Gwen’s years of dedicated service is a testament to the strength of her character and reflects the incredibly strong team we have at APN Outdoor.”
