Fairfax Radio Network is set to launch a major advertising campaign on Monday to support its summer cricket coverage.

The campaign will target the nation’s legion of cricket fans, highlighting the Fairfax Radio Network’s stations broadcasting the Commonwealth Bank Ashes series.

The campaign, developed by Whybin\TBWA Sydney, will feature a heavyweight schedule across a variety of media platforms such as newspapers, social media and magazines.

It will run until the end of the KFC Big Bash League season in February 2014.

“This will be a major campaign for the Fairfax Radio Network as we look to build audience for our cricket debut this summer,” Clark Forbes, Fairfax Radio Network national content director said.

“It will be the first time a commercial broadcaster is calling the majority of the cricket and we want to ensure cricket fans know about our great summer cricket coverage across the network.”

The campaign offers significant national reach and exposure and presents the opportunity to deliver a new audience for advertisers to connect with, according to Nick Randall, Fairfax Radio Network national sales director.

The line-up of cricket commentators includes Ian Chappell, Dean Jones and Damien Fleming among many other cricketing legends and will broadcast ball-by-ball coverage of the Melbourne and Sydney tests.

The campaign will be available among the print editions of The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH), The Sun Herald, The Age, The Sunday Age and the Australian Financial Review. It will also be available on the online editions of the SMH, Age, Brisbane Times and WA Today as well as its own Twitter page, @CricketTalkBack.

“We are gearing up for a hot summer of cricket,” Forbes said.
