Credit union aims to take on Candy Crush Saga with new app

Australian financial institution People’s Choice Credit Union has created a mobile app which gives people money to promote its new easy-access Zip Account.

The Zip It Up! app will only offer cash prizes to people who have the new account but the free appl available on Apple and Android devices, can be played for fun.

Peter Evers, People’s Choice Managing Director, joked that he wants to “knock off Candy Crush Saga” with the new app.

“You play the game and if you set the week’s highest score you get that score – in dollars – deposited into your People’s Choice account,” said People’s Choice Managing Director Peter Evers.

“We reckon coming in second or third is still a pretty good effort so we’ll be giving those gamers a bit of money as well.

“It’s a fun little game where you catch money,” Peter said. “It’s the sort of thing you’d spend a few minutes with at the bus stop or while you’re having a coffee – and there’s an incentive to give it your best shot.”
