Aussies invited to Crash The Super Bowl

For the first time Doritos’ Crash The Super Bowl competition is open to Australians and New Zealanders with the contest opening up to global entries in its eighth year.

Aspiring local filmmakers will have the chance to win US$1m, have their work broadcast to a global audience and be put in front of legendary comic book writer Stan Lee.

Doritos’ Crash the Super Bowl has run in the US for the past seven years, but now fans from all over the world where Doritos Chips are sold can enter.

Jenni Dill, PepsiCo ANZ marketing director, said: “Crash the Super Bowl has had a strong following in Australia and New Zealand for years so we’re very excited that fans now have the chance to enter their own homemade ad for the first time."

"This is a huge opportunity for filmmakers to break into the entertainment business in the US and beyond. With the quality of emerging talent in our local industry, we’re quietly confident that the Aussie and Kiwi entrants will do us proud and make it through to the finals.”

Filmmakers are invited to submit a 30 second ad to www.doritos.com between October 8 and November 24 this year. Individuals from ad agencies are allowed to enter but companies are not.

Two finalists will have their creations aired during the NFL’s Super Bowl broadcast in February 2014, last year the Super Bowl was broadcast into more than 230 countries and in 35 different languages.

The two finalists will also win the opportunity to work with Marvel Studios on the set of upcoming film Avengers: Age of Ultron.

One of the finalists will be selected by fan votes and the other by a judging panel which includes Stan Lee as well as executives and marketers from the Doritos brand.

The overall winner will take home the US$1m and the runner up will receive US$50,000.

Since the competitions launch in 2005 consumers have submitted more than 20,000 ad creations.
