SapientNitro has promoted Dena Michell to office lead of its Sydney operations amid “rapid growth”.
Michell has been with SapientNitro for three years and was most recently responsible for a portfolio of national and Queensland-based clients.
Paul Bennett, national managing director of SapientNitro Australia, said: “Dena will now take on the senior leadership role within the Sydney office, as well as responsibility for many of our multinational clients in collaboration with the APAC team.”
Michell has experience across FMCG, retail, financial services, automotive, hospitality, airlines and tourism.
She started her career at JWT in South Africa and before joining SapientNitro had moved up the ranks of Draftfcb South Africa to become business director.
In a statement SapientNitro said Michell’s promotion came “as the clients and staff at that office experience rapid growth”.
Bennett added: “The Sydney office has grown substantially with new clients including Unilever and BT Financial Group.”
The BT Financial win came in January following a three-way pitch and Unilever accounts include Paddle Pop which the agency won in September last year.
However, the agency recently split with client Volvo Car Australia after the brand moved its account to Arnold Furnace due to global alignments.
In November last year the agency was also forced to make 15 staff redundant across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane following the loss of Stockland Residential’s Queensland and Victorian business.
