The antics of the Pritchett and Dunphy families Down Under were a ratings success for Ten as the hyped Australian episode of Modern Family pulled in more than a million viewers.
The result is one of Ten’s best for the year, with a total of 1.049 million people tuning in to the American comedy at 6.30pm last night.
It came sixth overall and was the number the second most watched show of the evening in the 25 to 54s demo and under 55s.
Modern Family: Australia did not win the 6.30pm timeslot overall it come third behind the evenings overall winner My Kitchen Rules (1.912 million) and Nine’s 60 Minutes (1.155 million).
Nine’s broadcast of the TV Week Logie Awards was down again on previous years, with 974,000 people turning on the red-carpet arrivals to see who wore what. Last year the red-carpet arrivals pulled in 1.571 million.
Viewers dropped off from the arrivals broadcast last night with just 926,000 watched the 56th Annual TV Week Logie Awards, down from 1.093 million in 2013.
Seven’s Sunday Night (1.246 million) proved more popular than the awards. Sunday Night and Downton Abbey (917,000) also proved more popular than Ten’s Elementary which won 464,000 viewers at 8.30pm.
Other top 20 programs for Ten last night included Modern Family at 8pm (644,000), Modern Family: An Aussie Adventure (642,000) and two episodes of The Millers which won 611,000 and 541,000 viewers.
Despite the popularity of Modern Family the ABC was still hot on Ten’s heels with ten in third place overall with a combined 14.9% share of all free-to-air viewers.
The ABC’s total share was 14.6%. Ten’s main channel won 10.5%, just ahead of the 10.3% the ABC1 took.
Despite Nine being the home of red carpet glamour last night it was pipped by Seven which won the night on a total 36.1%.
Seven’s main channel took home 29.6%.
Nine was in second place overall with 30.1% and 22.8% for its primary channel.
SBS sat in last place on a total of 4.5% with 3.2% going to SBS ONE.
