Clive Palmer has said he is set to sue Rupert Murdoch over his “influence” over Australian politics, and accused his ex-wife Wendi Deng of being a Chinese spy live on breakfast TV.
Appearing on both Nine’s Today and Seven’s Sunrise this morning Palmer, who is campaigning for his Palmer United Party, was asked about an editorial on the front page of The Australian by Hedley Thomas making claims about his credentials including his claim to be a billionaire and mining magnate.
On Nine he said: “Hedley Thomas is like Black Caviar with a broken leg. He’s just working for Rupert because he doesn’t want to get the sack. The Australian’s not a newspaper, its Rupert’s play thing.”
And added: “He wants to control what you think.”
Then on Sunrise he said he was set to sue Murdoch over his influence over the press in Australia adding: “It’s time this fellow was brought to account – this foreigner – who tries to dictate what we do.”
Earlier this week the Gruen Nation team revealed Palmer’s aides had asked to use 303Lowe’s spoof election advert spruiking him, which won on the show last week.
