Baxter wants 20 for UM Sydney office, Furlong joins from Naked

Hot the heels of picking up the NSW Government master media account last week – added to other recent wins – UM CEO Mat Baxter has confirmed that the agency is in the market for 20 additional people for its Sydney operations.

First in the door at UM is Matt Furlong (pictured), who joins from Naked to the role of associate strategy director at the Sydney office.

Furlong worked at Naked Sydney as a communications strategist, working mostly on Microsoft and Goodman Fielder. Last year, he picked up a ‘specialist’ award at the B&T 30 Under 30 Awards.

At UM, Furlong key accounts will include Meat and Livestock Australia, Defence Force Recruitment and MasterCard.

Stefan Burford, UM’s national chief strategy officer, said Furlong represented the type of person the agency was bringing into its teams.

“Matt is a real talent with a proven track record in creative strategic thinking ” said Burford. “He is a great fit for the growing team here.”

UM said its expects to announce a new round of executive hires soon.
