The Brazilian Million

The Brazilian Million

In anticipation of the 2014 FIFA Soccer World Cup online retailer Kogan.com has launched a nationwide tipping competition.

The prize pool of $1 million (or the Brazilian Million) is only open to the first million who sign up, and opens May 27.

Ruslan Kogan (pictured), CEO and founder of the retail site, said: “The Socceroos making it to the World Cup is an amazing feat in and of itself. We’re a great sporting nation that loves a bit of healthy competition. The time differences make it hard to follow international events sometimes, but we need to get behind the Aussies.

“We've launched this competition to get more people involved. It's free to enter so everyone can have some fun, try and pick the winners of the group stage matches, and see how they match up against their mates!

Kogan also said his mum was a little shocked at the $1 million prize pool.

“My mum was pretty shocked about me putting up such a huge prize for this,” he said.

“There's no doubt that it's going to be very hard to pick all of the results correctly. That's why there's such a massive prize of $1 million to anyone who can pull it off.

“Of course we also stand to benefit from the competition. Massive sporting events are a huge driver of TV sales – if we can help build Aussie engagement around the World Cup and get more of Australia behind the Socceroos, then it's a win-win for everyone.”
