Nine wins Wednesday with RBT

Drink and drug addled drivers pulled in the most television viewers behind news and current affair programs last night.

RBT on Nine came in fifth overall and was Wednesday evening’s most watched entertainment program with an audience of 764,000, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

But viewers dropped off like flies when Nine’s 8.30pm program, Hostages, came on.

The US drama, featuring Australian actress Toni Collette, pulled in just 488,000 viewers.

The poor result saw Nine lose 8.30pm to ABC’s QI (693,000).

Despite Seven having Wednesday night’s only show with a million-plus audience, Seven News won 1.032 million, the network lost the night to Nine.

Nine won a combined 27.7% share of all free-to-air viewers versus Seven’s total 26.6%.

Nine’s primary channel took 19.4% ahead of Seven’s 18.4%.

Ten took a total 19.8% share, with 13.3% for its main channel. The network’s most watched program was Rango, in 12th place it pulled in 587,000 viewers.

ABC won a combined 19.8% share with 13.5% for ABC1.

SBS was left with a total 6.1% with 5% going to SBS ONE.
