“Simple Screw Up!” The Daily Aus Mistakes German Flag For Aboriginal Flag In Editing Blunder

Youth news publication, The Daily Aus mistakenly used a photo of the German Flag instead of The Aboriginal Flag in an epic blunder.

Basically, in a post about the government’s plan to spend $25 million to put an Aboriginal flag on The Sydney Harbour Bridge. The youth publication used a photo of the German flag instead of the Aboriginal flag.

Both flags, do feature, red, yellow and black.

The publication is famously edited by Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Fitzsimons’ daughter Billi, which went viral for the mixup.

The mistake caught Twitter’s attention because Fitzsimons has such a public profile. Plenty of people took to Twitter to weigh in on the error.

Interestingly, the co-founder of the publication, Sam Koslowski, shed light on what happened and made it clear it wasn’t Fitzsimons’ fault.

News.com.au has reported that Koslowski said: “It was a simple screw-up.

“One of our web designers was mocking up some new designs and inadvertently put a mock design up live.

“This was a design testing error and had nothing to do with our editorial team. It was meant for internal design review only and was published in error.

“We have reviewed our internal design and testing processes so it doesn’t happen again.”

Here at B&T, we’ve made our fair share of mistakes, but the silver lining is! You can learn from them.
