Julian Lock, M&C Saatchi Sydney’s new craft designer, has always had a fixation for finding out how things work, pulling things apart and reconstructing them in pursuit of complete comprehension. As a 2020 honors graduate of Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, Lock has gained freelance design experience working for clients such as City Of Sydney, Darlinghurst Business Partnership & ORDRE.com. With the love of creating a brand that can be recognised, Lock has also garnered experience as a freelance fashion photographer for brands like P.E Nation & Australian Fashion Council.

Transferring from M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment, Billie Gurr joins the team as junior art director. During her time at S&E, Gurr has fine-tuned the craft of solving brand problems with creative thinking and storytelling; delivering a range of above and below the line campaigns including Have a Go – AOC, Pick Fresh Play Fresh – Woolworths and Just Change – Just Water, to name a few.

Having placed third in Award School NSW in 2021, Claire Kirby joins M&C Saatchi as junior copywriter. A reformed commercial lawyer, Kirby is well-acquainted with the art of distilling complex ideas into simple, easy to understand concepts. Prior to jumping on board at M&C Saatchi, Kirby freelanced at Leo Burnett and Present Company.

Jake Rowland jumps on as junior art director at M&C Saatchi Sydney. A recent Award School Graduate with a background in design, Jake is equipped to find unique and engaging ways to communicate brands’ messages. Prior to joining the M&C Saatchi Team, Rowland freelanced at Leo Burnett & Present Company.

“We’re passionate about developing young talent at this agency. Jake, Claire, Billie, Julian and Will are interesting thinkers, brimming with potential, who bring really different past experiences to the department. So we’re really excited to have them on board and we’re expecting them to knock it out the park. ” says Mandie van der Merwe, executive creative director at M&C Saatchi.
