Are Media has today launched its latest industry insights series, TRENDtalks: Beauty, with a panel of leading experts shining a spotlight on the changing face of Australia’s multi-billion dollar beauty market.

TRENDtalks: Beauty, the third in the popular series following travel and food, will focus on the business of beauty, from product development and innovation, sustainability, technology, corporate social responsibility and how brands can effectively engage with consumers.

Hosted by leading Australian beauty expert and presenter Michael Brown, who for 20 years has worked with celebrities including Jennifer Hawkins, Miranda Kerr and Giselle Bundchen, in addition to regularly appearing on Channel Nine’s Today Extra, the virtual panel discussion will also feature:

Livia Wang, co-founder and chief brand officer of Access Corporate Group, a Sydney-based brand management company and powerhouse beauty, wellness and lifestyle business, with a portfolio of over 30 iconic brands including Vida Glow, Napoleon Perdis, Minenssey and Lovekins.

Lyndall Campher, media director at L’Oréal Australia and New Zealand. During her 30 year career Campher was appointed by Nelson Mandela as the first industry representative to the board of the South African Broadcasting Corporation, and has worked at MindShare, Mediacom and UM running major accounts, in addition to the L’Oréal media account, before joining as its media director.

Niamh Mooney, founder of Software, which offers personalised prescription-grade skin care formulations. Growing up in country Australia where it was hard to get access to specialist skin support, Mooney saw the rise of telehealth as an opportunity to launch a teledermatology business.

Maria Thattil is the current Miss Universe Australia 2020. She has headlined national campaigns as a face and ambassador for Clinique, L’Oreal, Adore Beauty, Olay, Ulta3, Seamless1, Eimele Australia and Clinique and is the founder of her own self-empowerment Instagram series ‘Mind With Me’.

Brooke Le Poer Trench, lifestyle director at The Australian Women’s Weekly who has worked in Sydney, New York and London, creating content across print and digital platforms for luxury magazines and brands including CLEO, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar and Allure.

Andrew Cook, director of sales at Are Media said: “The Australian beauty and personal care products market was valued at more than A$5 billion in 2020*, and is projected to rise at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 4 per cent over the next five years. As with many industries, the beauty industry has had to evolve to meet changing consumer demands, particularly when it comes to technology, distribution and content.

“Are media is the home to Australia’s leading magazine brands for women and the largest online beauty community. Once again, we’re delighted to share both research insights and views of our expert panel, to highlight the latest beauty trends and innovations that women can expect over the coming 12 months.”

Open to marketers and those working in the beauty industry, TRENDtalks: Beauty will be broadcast on Wednesday 20 October at 10am. Registrants will be in the running to win a GHD unplugged cordless straightener and GHD Helios professional hair dryer valued at $760.
