Joe Rogan Contracts COVID After Sharing Anti-Vaxx Views

Podcaster Joe Rogan, who has been criticised for spreading COVID-19 misinformation, has been diagnosed with the deadly virus.

Rogan, who famously signed a 100 million dollar deal with Spotify and is known for his long-form interviews on his incredibly successful podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, has taken to social media to share his diagnosis and discuss the treatments he has used to fight the virus.

Rogan’s treatments included monoclonal antibodies, a vitamin drip and Ivermectin. Ivermectin is a controversial drug that has been dismissed by health authorities but has a cult following and is widely discussed on Reddit. 

Rogan also announced he was now feeling great, however, it is worth noting that this kind of personalised medical treatment isn’t always available to Americans in the current healthcare system.

Interestingly, Rogan has not been pro-vaccine and has discussed his beliefs on his podcast, last spring he said that healthy young people don’t need to get jabbed.

Politico reported, Rogan said: “If you’re like 21 years old and you say to me, ‘Should I get vaccinated? I’ll go, No.

“If you’re a healthy person and you’re exercising all the time and you’re young and you’re eating well, I don’t think you need to worry about this.”

His claims became so widespread that they even warranted a response from The White House.

Communications director for the White House, Kate Bedingfield told CNN: “I’m not sure that taking scientific and medical advice from Joe Rogan is perhaps the most productive way for people to get their information.”

Rogan has also offered fans refunds to his live show if they could no longer come because they aren’t vaccinated.

The New York Times reported, Rogan said: “If someone has an ideological or physiological reason for not getting vaccinated, I don’t want to force them to get vaccinated to see.

And now they say that everybody has to be vaccinated, and I want everybody to know that you can get your money back.”

Rogan has yet to disclose if he has been vaccinated or not.

However, arguably, it might be easy to sit on the fence if you have the privilege and money to ensure you can access the best medical treatment.
