Tuesday TV Wrap: Big Brother Finale Peaks At 726,000

Last night’s Big Brother peaked at 726,000 viewers for the winner announcement, while the rest of the episode peaked at 672,000, as per OzTAM’s metro data.

Okay, spoilers here, so scroll down a paragraph if you’re a devoted Big Brother fan planning to watch it on BVOD later:

Fan favourite Marley took out the crown and the $250,000 cash prize. In a very heartwarming winners’ speech, he said, “first of all I’m going to buy all of these guys a beautiful drink. And second, just going to take care of dad. Whatever he needs, whatever he wants. We’re going to take care of dad and set him up for the rest of his life.”

Aw! A worthy winner in B&T’s eyes.

High numbers were in for the news again as Seven News netted 1,243,000 viewers and Nine News had 1,187,000. With the NT, parts of WA and a big chunk of NSW in lockdown, there’s little else to do other than turn on the telly and hope for a heartwarming news story of a firefighter saving a kitten from a tree, or something.

A Current Affair had 813,000 viewers while ABC News had 757,000.

After Big Brother was Home and Away with 650,000 viewers, followed by The Chase with 641,000.

Next was MasterChef , in an ep filmed in Simpson’s Gap and a challenge focused on heroing Indigenous Australian ingredients, which scored 610,000 viewers.

Following that was ABC’s 7.30 with 603,000 viewers, and again, at the bottom of the prime time pack, Australian Nina Warrior with 572,000.

The rest of Nine’s night had Hot Seat with 552,000 viewers while the ABC had Anh’s Brush With Fame at 501,00 in an ep with Dr Harry Cooper, and Finding the Archibald at 415,000.

Finally for 10, The Project had 519,000 viewers while 10 News First had 435,000 viewers.

The Seven Network took out the highest proportion of the daily share with 29.9 per cent. The Nine Network came in second with 27.4 per cent, while there was a tight run between Network 10 and the ABC Network. 10 came out on top, but just – it had 17.3 per cent of the daily share as compared to the ABC’s 16.9 per cent.

The SBS Network had 8.5 per cent.
